International Kendo Camp for Youths (age 18-25)

Aim of event

  •  Systematically learn traditional practice methods of Kendo
  • To learn the basic knowledge to deeply understand the cultural nature of Kendo and Budo.
  • Experience the joy of international exchange through kendo

participation

The program is for youth Kendokas – preferably a National Team member or one candidate/nation – between the ages of 18-25 who has an recommendation letter from his/her National Kendo Federation (President).

The organizers offering a grant for selected Kendokas whose going to receive a free all inclusive accommodation during the event.

For those who could not make it into the selection, they still can join the event for the same fee as the Hungary Kendo Camp participants minus 20% of all cost.

Sufficient English knowledge is important.

Fees

  • Up until 30 people the all-inclusive accommodation is free of charge for 4 nights starting 9th. of July. Including Fridays Sayonara party
  • Seminar and lecture fee: €50/person
  • For those who could not make it into the selection, they still can join the event for the same fee as the Hungary Kendo Camp participants minus 20% of all cost.
  • Available a Complete package for those who wish to stay for the Hungary Kendo Cup on the weekend: €100/person, all-inclusive accommodation for 5 nights + Camp and lecture fee + Sayonara party + Competition fees (Individual & Team, you can put your Team together during camp time!)

AKIRA IjimA

8. Dan Kyoshi
International Budo University

Akira Ijima, 8th Dan, Kyoshi

Born in Akita-Prefecture, 1957, Ijima-Sensei attended Honjo High School and Nippon Sports Science University, where he worked as a professor’s assistant before moving to the International Budo University (IBU).

At IBU, Ijima-Sensei is a Professor of Budo Education, Chief of Special Budo Course, as well as Director of the university’s Kendo Club.

Ijima-Sensei competes in many tournaments in Japan, including National Teaching Faculty Tournament, All Japan East vs. West Tournament, All Japan Prefecture Kendo Championship, and Kendo 8th Dan Competition for the Prince Hirohito Royal Cup.

Ijima-Sensei serves as a lecturer at various Kendo training sessions organized by the All Japan Kendo Federation, while he acts as a Referee at various tournaments, including All Japan University Championships.

Ijima-Sensei published a number of Kendo instruction books and mediums, including Kendo (Basics & Tactics); Practical Kendo Learning Method; Instruction System of School Kendo; Video Kendo Coaching; and DVD-Achieving the Ultimate Kendo.

MAMORU TanakA

Mamoru Tanaka, 7th Dan, Kyoshi

Born in Hyugo-Prefecture, 1958, Tanaka-Sensei acquired Master’s degree from Tsukuba University in the field of Budo Theory.

He is a Professor of the Department of Budo at the International Budo University (IBU), where he primarily teaches subjects related to Japanese Budo Culture. Tanaka-Sensei serves as Chief of the Budo Sports Research Division and the Budo & Sports Science Research Institute at IBU.

Tanaka-Sensei also lectures often at International Budo Culture Seminars sponsored by Nippon Budokan, where many international students participate. He published Budo’s Past, Present and Future (Nippon Budokan, 2005) along with other publications in the field.

Atsushi Isoyama

Atsushi ISOYAMA

Born in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, 5th Dan Kendo

Mr. Isoyama learned Kendo from Mizuta Shigenori Sensei (8th Dan, Hanshi) at Tsuchiura First High School in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, and continued his Kendo training at local Dojos in Ibaraki, such as Souchikan and Mizuta-Dojo. He has been living in Vienna, Austria, since 2000, where he works at an international organization. He teaches Kendo to local practitioners and children in Vienna and other locations in Austria. Mr. Isoyama has been acting as a coordinator for the International Budo University (IBU) Kendo Club’s Kendo exchange program in Vienna, providing various managerial and coordination support to the annual event.
